Long Island Iced Tea for me. Only tend to get all of the ingredients for it in at xmas. Absolutely love them and could do myself some damage if I was on them all year round!

Re: Cocktails
A slice or lemon and lime goes well with any cocktail. Just remember to give it a "squeeze" before dropping it in :-)

I admire the systematic approach, geep.

I’ll enjoy the fly-in-bottle way about it, mind you.

Re: Cocktails
I might explore cocktails when I've finished exploring beer and wine.

But I'd have to have my 500th birthday behind me for that to happen

They are quite moorish, I introduced Joe Royal to them when we were in Crete last year, only difference was they used an Orange liquer rather than Midori.

Have a look at Difford's Guide for the proper menu as I put down Gin twice.

Re: Cocktails
What seems to be the problem?

"There are plenty of fancy newcomers in the world of tonic water, but the Schweppes company has been making the stuff since 1871 and it knows what it’s doing. With a perfect balance of bitter to sweet and reliably perky bubbles, this simple stalwart is the bartender’s mixer of choice. If it’s a classic G&T you crave, you really can’t go wrong with a chilled bottle of Schweppes."

Re: Cocktails
When it comes to triple sec type liquors, Cointreau is lighter and Grand Marnier is the heavyweight so I find the former works best for the refreshing long drink.

Seems merely opening up a tread to talk about cocktails is enough to send you into hissy-fit mode, Pointy.

You are clearly in a very vulnerable state. Why don't you take care of yourself a bit?

Pickled might as well have labelled this thread 'Pretentious Cunts Post Here'.

Being unwilling to forego membership of said club, I'd just like to say:

Marguareta - crushed ice, salt around rim (of the glass Swiss).

That is all.

Re: Cocktails
Last year's fad was Aperol and prosecco, hence the bottle in a dark corner of the man cupboard. I agree Campari is the bittering agent of choice with the non-alcoholic alternative being Kas Bitter.

Re: Cocktails
BTW Aperol is BLAND. I much prefer Campari as a bittering agent.

Re: Cocktails
Just finished a film and needed a snifter before bed. Raided the drinks cupboard (which is fucking bare), and made myself this.

2 parts gin
1 part tequila
1 part triple sec
splash of orange
splash of soda

Pleasantly crisp, dry, sour and sippable, Not sure I need a second one, though. Need to find some ice, too.
